A Geekbench 7 test gives fresh details about the chipset used in Huawei’s Mate 90 Pro Max.
Huawei has launched four new Mate 90 series phones in China. The Mate 90 Pro Max and Mate 90 RS use the company’s latest Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. Huawei did not provide many details about the chip in its launch materials.
A new Geekbench 7 test of the Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max, listed as CMM-AL10, now offers more information about its performance. The phone recorded an average score of 1,317 points in the single-core test and 5,381 points in the multi-core test.
The highest Geekbench scores listed at the time of writing were 1,528 points for single-core performance and 6,169 points for multi-core performance. Based on the supplied test data, the Kirin 9050 Pro sits between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in CPU performance.
Geekbench also provides details about the Kirin 9050 Pro’s CPU design. The chipset has a nine-core CPU, with one Prime “ultra” core running at up to 3.1GHz.
The main core is joined by six performance cores. These cores operate at 2.7GHz and 2.2GHz. The chip also has two efficiency cores clocked at 1.75GHz.
For graphics, the Kirin 9050 Pro uses Huawei’s Maleoon 955 GPU. Geekbench lists the GPU with six cores running at 1.05GHz.
The Geekbench results provide a clearer picture of the chip’s reported specifications. However, benchmark scores can vary between test runs and devices, so they should be viewed as performance indicators rather than fixed results.
There is also information about the manufacturing process of the Kirin 9050 Pro. A report from Bernstein Research says the chip is made using a 7nm-class process.
The report further says the chipset may use SMIC’s N+2 or N+3 process technology. Huawei has not confirmed these manufacturing details, so they should be treated as reported information rather than official specifications.
For Indian readers tracking Huawei’s smartphone technology, the Geekbench result offers a useful look at the company’s latest flagship chipset. It also provides early performance data for the Mate 90 Pro Max ahead of broader comparisons with other mobile processors.
The Mate 90 series has already launched in China, while the available information does not confirm further market details. More official information would be needed to establish the chipset’s full specifications and wider availability.
