The upcoming iPad is expected to bring Apple Intelligence, 5G and Wi-Fi 7 support with a major hardware upgrade.
Apple’s next entry-level iPad may feature the A19 chip and 8GB of RAM, according to new details reportedly found in Apple’s code. The tablet is expected to arrive in spring 2027, around two years after the current model launched.
The upcoming iPad would get a notable performance upgrade over the existing model. Apple’s current entry-level iPad uses the A16 chip and comes with 6GB of RAM.
The new model is also expected to support Apple Intelligence, along with the new Siri AI features. This would bring Apple’s latest AI capabilities to its entry-level iPad lineup.
Another major upgrade could come in connectivity. The tablet is expected to use Apple’s C1X modem, with support for sub-6GHz 5G networks.
The iPad may also include Apple’s N1 networking chip. It is expected to support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread connectivity.
Apple launched its current entry-level iPad in March 2025. The device now starts at $449 after a price increase in June.
With the expected hardware and connectivity upgrades, the next model could cost at least $499. However, the final price has not been confirmed.
