The new Vivo smartphone also features the Dimensity 9600M chip, Zeiss cameras and 90W wired charging.
Vivo has officially launched the X500 in China at its X500 series launch event. The phone sits below the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, but shares several features with the higher-end models.
The Vivo X500 starts at 5,499 yuan and uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600M processor. It also has a 7,500mAh battery, a 144Hz OLED display and a Zeiss-backed camera system.
Vivo X500 camera features
The phone has a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch Blueprint × Sony LYTIA-828 sensor and Zeiss optics. Vivo’s V3+ imaging chip handles additional image and video processing.
A 64MP telephoto camera uses Sony’s LYTIA 610 sensor. It offers a 72mm equivalent focal length and 3x optical zoom. The camera also supports a 15cm minimum focusing distance and CIPA 5.5 stabilisation.
Vivo says the X500 supports Zeiss gimbal-level image stabilisation. It can record 4K video at 120fps for slow-motion footage.
The company also says the phone is the first smartphone to support native 8K Live. Vivo has worked with platforms such as Weibo to support direct sharing of 8K Live content.
The X500 also supports native 4K cinematic Live. Users can apply different movie-style colour profiles while recording.
144Hz OLED display
The Vivo X500 has a 6.59-inch flat OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The LTPS panel can reach 4,000 nits of peak brightness at 20% APL.
Its high-brightness mode reaches 2,000 nits. The display also supports 2,160Hz PWM dimming at lower brightness levels.
Vivo offers the phone in Earth Echo, Sunny Day, Dawn and Night colours. The company is also offering a Sunny Day package with matching software and visual elements.
7,500mAh battery and 90W charging
The phone packs a 7,500mAh battery with 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. It also supports Bypass Charging 2.0.
The large battery is combined with Vivo’s latest chipset and memory hardware. The X500 uses LPDDR5X Ultra memory and UFS 4.1 storage.
Other features include an ultrasonic 3D fingerprint sensor, IR blaster, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC. The phone also has a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port.

For durability, the Vivo X500 carries IP68 and IP69 ingress protection.
Dimensity 9600M and OriginOS
The Vivo X500 is the first smartphone to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600M processor. The chipset works alongside Vivo’s Blueprint Imaging Chip V3+ for additional image processing.
The phone runs Vivo’s latest OriginOS software. It introduces a liquid-themed interface and new animations for touchscreen unlocking.
Vivo says the X500 can maintain smooth performance for up to 72 months. However, actual long-term performance will depend on factors such as usage and software updates.
Vivo X500 price and availability
The Vivo X500 has launched in China in three storage configurations:
- 12GB + 256GB: 5,499 yuan (about $821)
- 12GB + 512GB: 5,999 yuan (about $895)
- 12GB + 1TB: 6,999 yuan (about $1,045)
The phone measures 8.15mm in thickness. The Earth Echo, Sunny Day and Dawn versions weigh 211 grams, while the Night version weighs 213 grams.
