Xiaomi will unveil the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China, with dual 200MP Leica cameras and batteries up to 8,500mAh.
Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will launch on September 23. The company will unveil the new phones at its autumn new product launch event at 7pm China time.
The company has also released a teaser poster with the headline “Full Upgrade”. It highlights five key features of the upcoming series.
Both the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will share the same chip platform, camera system and display technology. The main difference between the two models will be their battery capacity.
Xiaomi 18 Pro series to use a 2nm platform
Both smartphones will use a flagship mobile platform made using a 2nm GAA process. Xiaomi says the new chip platform will improve performance and power efficiency.
The company has not yet revealed the name of the processor. The launch date also falls during Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit, which runs from September 22 to 24. More processor details could be announced around the same period.
Dual 200MP Leica cameras confirmed
The Xiaomi 18 Pro series will feature a Leica camera system with two 200MP sensors. One sensor will be used as the main camera, while the other will serve as a large-sensor periscope telephoto camera.
Xiaomi says this will be the most advanced Leica camera setup used on a numbered flagship series.
Earlier information shared by tipster Digital Chat Station suggested a 17mm to 75mm focal range and 3.2x periscope zoom. Xiaomi has not confirmed these details.
New display technology with 0.99mm bezels
The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will also use a new-generation Super Pixel display panel.
The panel will feature Xiaomi’s M11 light-emitting system and a new green light-emitting material. Xiaomi says the technology can deliver higher brightness while using less power.
The company has also reduced the display bezels to just 0.99mm. This has been achieved through a new screen packaging process.
Xiaomi 18 Pro gets a 7,000mAh battery
Battery capacity will be one of the biggest differences between the two models.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro will feature a 7,000mAh battery. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will come with an 8,500mAh battery.
Both phones will use Xiaomi’s GSR VIII battery technology. The batteries will have 32% silicon content.
100W charging reported, but not confirmed
Xiaomi’s launch poster does not mention charging speeds. However, a 3C certification from August showed 100W wired charging for two Xiaomi models believed to be part of the new series.
Since Xiaomi has not included charging speeds in its confirmed launch information, the 100W figure should not be treated as an officially confirmed specification for the Xiaomi 18 Pro series.
Xiaomi 18 Pro series launch date
The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will be unveiled in China on September 23 at 7pm China time.
Xiaomi has confirmed the major hardware upgrades, including the 2nm platform, dual 200MP Leica camera system, new Super Pixel display technology and large batteries.
Further details about the processor, charging and other specifications are expected to be revealed at the launch event.
