The iPhone 18 Pro Max reached a full charge in 55 minutes in an independent test using compatible charging gear.
Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max has shown a major charging speed increase over the iPhone 17 Pro Max in an independent test. The phone reached a full charge in 55 minutes when paired with suitable charging gear.
The test was conducted by YouTube channel Xiaobai’s Tech Reviews. Tipster Ice Universe later highlighted the results. The test found that the iPhone 18 Pro Max reached 34 percent in 10 minutes and 50 percent in 15 minutes.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 5,391mAh battery in the nano SIM version. The eSIM-only model has a larger 5,567mAh battery. Despite the battery size, the test showed a full charge in less than an hour.
The same test reported that the iPhone 17 Pro Max took 81 minutes to reach a fully charged state. The iPhone 17 Pro models also needed 20 minutes to reach 50 percent in the test.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max reached a peak charging speed of 52W during the test. However, that peak lasted for only 12 minutes, so it was not maintained throughout the charging process.
Apple’s charging claims
Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max can reach 50 percent in 15 minutes with a capable 60W adapter or higher. The charging setup must support Adjustable Voltage Supply, or AVS.
Apple’s 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max is one compatible option. The adapter is now available in India for Rs. 4,490. It has one USB Type-C port and retractable pins.
Apple also says its iPhones can reach 50 percent in 30 minutes with a 35W adapter or higher and a MagSafe Charger. These charging accessories are sold separately from the iPhones.
For Indian buyers, the faster charging result could reduce the time needed to recharge the phone. However, actual charging times can vary based on the adapter, charging conditions and the phone’s battery level.
The 35W Dual USB-C Port Power Adapter is priced at Rs. 5,800 in India. It has two USB Type-C ports and can charge compatible devices.
The independent test provides a practical look at the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s charging performance. Apple’s stated charging figures and the test results both point to faster charging with compatible hardware.
