The new iQOO phone will launch with three colour options and a high-refresh-rate Samsung AMOLED display.

The iQOO 16 will launch in China on September 29, with sales set to begin through the Vivo online store. iQOO has also confirmed three colour options for the new smartphone.

The Vivo sub-brand announced the launch date in a Weibo post on Tuesday. The event will begin at 7:00 pm local time in China, which is 4:30 pm IST.

The three colours are Chasing Light, Legendary, and Racing Track. The names are translated from Chinese.

The Chasing Light version will have a laser holographic back. It will combine red and blue hues with a silver background.

The Legendary version will use magnetron sputtering electroplating technology. It will have a 670nm electroplating film over a white finish.

The Racing Track version takes design inspiration from the purple paint used on F1 cars, according to iQOO.

iQOO 16 Display Details

The company has already shared several display details of the upcoming phone. It said the iQOO 16 will be the world’s first smartphone with a 2K display and a refresh rate of up to 165Hz.

The phone will use Samsung’s latest AMOLED panel with M16 luminescent material. It will also feature Samsung’s second-generation LEAD 2.0 display technology.

iQOO says the display can reach 2,800 nits of global peak brightness. Its local peak brightness can reach up to 10,000 nits.

The screen will also support up to 3,300Hz PWM dimming. PWM dimming is a method used to control screen brightness.

The display has also received TÜV Rheinland certifications for Global Eye Protection and Unpolarized Light.

iQOO 16 Camera and Design

The iQOO 16 will also bring a redesigned rear camera module. The square-shaped module will house a triple rear camera setup.

The company has teased camera upgrades over the previous model. It has also described the new camera design as a robotic arm, based on the translated Chinese description.

For Indian buyers, the China launch provides the first confirmed date for the new model. The supplied information does not provide further details about an India launch.
