Vivo has confirmed a March or April 2027 launch window in China for its upcoming camera-focused X500 Ultra flagship.
Vivo has revealed when it plans to launch the Vivo X500 Ultra in China. The company’s Vice President and Product Vice President, Huang Tao, shared the timeframe during a post-event session following the Vivo X500 series launch.
According to Huang Tao, Vivo plans to introduce the X500 Ultra in March or April 2027. The company has not yet announced an exact launch date.
The announcement comes after Vivo unveiled the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max in China. Reports have also mentioned possible X500e and X500 FE models, but Vivo has not confirmed launch details for those phones.
Vivo X500 Ultra could focus on camera performance
The X500 Ultra is expected to sit above the current X500 series models. It is also expected to focus strongly on photography and content creation.
A July leak from tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that Vivo was testing three 200-megapixel telephoto camera sensors. The reported options have sensor sizes of 1/1.12-inch, 1/1.3-inch and 1/1.4-inch.
The larger 1/1.12-inch sensor could offer stronger light capture for telephoto photography. However, it is not yet known which sensor Vivo will select for the final retail phone.
Two main camera options reportedly under testing
The flagship is also reported to be testing two different 35mm main camera setups.
One option reportedly uses a 50-megapixel 1/1.28-inch LOFIC sensor. It is said to include optical image stabilisation and a micro-gimbal lens system designed to provide a wide stabilisation angle.
The second reported setup uses a 200-megapixel 1/1.12-inch LOFIC sensor. Vivo has not confirmed either configuration for the final device.
Snapdragon chip could power the Ultra model
The existing X500 series models use Dimensity 9600-series chipsets. The X500 Ultra could use different hardware, according to current reports.
The phone is rumoured to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. If confirmed, this would make the Ultra model’s processor different from those used in the other X500 series phones.
Vivo has not yet confirmed the complete specifications of the X500 Ultra.
Global launch remains unconfirmed
Vivo has now confirmed the China launch timeframe for the X500 Ultra. However, the company has not provided details about a global release.
For Indian buyers, this means there is currently no confirmed information about an India launch. Vivo is expected to share more details as the March-April 2027 launch window gets closer.
