Vivo has launched the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max in China, with new Zeiss camera systems, large batteries and MediaTek’s latest flagship chip.
Vivo has launched the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max in China, bringing MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9600 Pro to its flagship range. The two phones also focus heavily on camera hardware, with new Zeiss-backed imaging systems.
Vivo X500 Pro features a 144Hz display
The X500 Pro has a 6.36-inch display with a 144Hz adaptive LTPO 8T panel. The screen uses Q11 luminescent material developed with BOE and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It can reach a hardware-level minimum brightness of 1 nit.
The phone has a 50MP Zeiss ultra-dynamic main camera using Vivo’s new BlueTouch 900 sensor. Vivo says the sensor can deliver a 17EV dynamic range. A high dynamic range helps a camera retain detail in both bright and dark parts of a scene.
The main camera also uses Vivo’s VCS 4.0 system, Zeiss T* coating and deep-absorption blue glass. The telephoto camera combines a BluePrint-designed lens with a 64MP Sony LYTIA 610 sensor and an 85mm focal length.
The rear camera setup also includes a 50MP Samsung JN5 ultrawide camera. For selfies, the phone uses a 50MP Samsung JN1 front camera.
Power comes from a 6,510mAh battery. The X500 Pro supports 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging.
X500 Pro Max gets 200MP telephoto camera
The X500 Pro Max moves to a larger 6.85-inch display. It uses the Q11 panel and adds a 2K Zeiss Master Color Screen. Vivo has also developed a custom auto-brightness system for the display.
The Pro Max has a 200MP Zeiss APO super telephoto camera. It uses a BluePrint and Samsung HP0 sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size. The phone also supports hardware-level 4x ISZ lossless zoom.
Vivo has added several systems to improve focus on moving subjects during long-range shooting. These include an optical telephoto tracking system, a 60fps high-frame-rate system and the Blueprint high-refresh-rate tracking engine.
Both phones can also work with the Zeiss G2 Ultra teleconverter. It offers an equivalent 400mm focal length for longer-range photography.
The Pro Max also gets a larger 8,000mAh battery. It keeps the same 90W wired and 40W wireless charging support as the Pro model.
Dimensity 9600 Pro powers both phones
Both phones are powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro. Vivo and MediaTek say they worked closely on the chipset for the X500 Pro series.
The chip has more than 33 billion transistors and uses a 2+3+3 all-big-core CPU design. It also has 34.5MB of cache and supports LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage.
MediaTek claims the chip offers 17% higher single-core performance and 15% higher multi-core performance than the previous generation. The company also says peak multi-core power use is 61% lower.
The chipset includes the NPU 1090 for on-device AI processing. It can run mixture-of-experts models with up to 30 billion parameters directly on the phone. Vivo is using this capability for features such as one-click highlight editing.
Vivo X500 Pro, X500 Pro Max price in China
In China, the Vivo X500 Pro starts at 6,499 yuan for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The 12GB+512GB model costs 7,499 yuan, while the 12GB+1TB version costs 8,499 yuan.
The Vivo X500 Pro Max starts at 6,999 yuan for 12GB+256GB. Its 12GB+512GB version costs 7,999 yuan. The 16GB+512GB and 12GB+1TB versions cost 8,499 yuan and 8,999 yuan, respectively.
A Creator’s Package is also available with 16GB RAM, 1TB storage and satellite communication. It is priced at 12,999 yuan.
Sale dates and India availability
Pre-orders for the X500 series are open in China. The X500 Pro Max will go on sale on September 24, while the X500 Pro will be available from September 29.
Vivo has not yet announced international pricing or a global release date for the X500 Pro series. Indian buyers will therefore need to wait for official details on local availability and pricing.
