Xiaomi showcased its upcoming 18 Fold at IFA 2026 ahead of its official launch next week. The foldable smartphone was displayed behind glass, so visitors could not handle the device.

The first notable detail is its bright red finish. The colour looks more vibrant in person than in some earlier images seen online.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold uses a short and wide “passport” design. This form factor has recently gained attention in the foldable smartphone segment.

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, the Xiaomi model has more rounded corners. This design could make the phone more comfortable to hold during longer use, although that could not be confirmed without handling the device.

The foldable has a 5.38-inch cover display on the outside. Its rounded design gives the screen a slightly unusual appearance, with a more squared-off look on the left side and rounded corners on the right.

The main display measures 7.58 inches. Its bezels appear slim, while the display crease was difficult to see from most viewing angles at the showcase.

The main screen also has a punch-hole cutout in the top-right corner for the selfie camera. Another front-facing camera is placed on the cover screen.

Triple rear camera setup

At the back, the Xiaomi 18 Fold features three cameras housed inside a visor-style module. The expected setup includes a main camera, a telephoto camera and an ultrawide camera.

Xiaomi has already confirmed that the foldable will use its in-house XRING O3 chipset. The company’s new chip is expected to be a key part of the device’s performance.

However, the IFA showcase did not provide an opportunity to test the phone directly. More details about its real-world performance and overall user experience will become clearer after the device is officially launched.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold is scheduled to launch next week, with further specifications and details expected at the official unveiling.
